The work of Yann Houri focuses on the complexity of the human subject and emotions in the virtual age. Through painting and installation Yann Houri portrays his passion for visually recreating the human emotions in a violent and expressive form. Juggling between abstraction and realism, relying on an explosive colour palette secured effortlessly with minute detail, his works evoke feelings of resurrection, impalpable joy and an underlying sentiment of hope which drives one’s will to live.
In addition to raw emotion, Houri’s paintings contend the concept of time. In an effort to make the viewer realise the value of the present, instead of dwelling on the past or the future, Houri's paintings forever freeze the explosive expression of a nanosecond.
Born in 1990 in Paris, France. Yann Houri is a self-taught artist, currently living and working in Paris.
